Where do extreme couponers get their coupons?

Ever wonder how those extreme couponers are able to come up with enough coupons to buy a year’s worth of macaroni & cheese when it’s on sale for a rock-bottom price? Where did they find 200 coupons for $1.50 off a 4-ounce tube of Colgate toothpaste? Shhhhh…. Come closer and we’ll share our secrets.

Buy Multiple Newspapers

If you only need 10 or 12 of a particular coupon then sometimes buying multiple copies of the Sunday paper works. But, keep in mind how much those papers cost. If you’re paying $20 a week for newspapers then you want to be sure you’re saving more than you’re spending for papers.

Let’s face it, though, if you’re talking about staples like macaroni and cheese and you can get enough for a year for free if you have enough coupons, you’ll probably want more than just twelve coupons – and that’s when newspapers become not the best idea.

Ask Family and Friends

Assuming you have a lot of friends and family who don’t use coupons, this is also a good idea. But chances are, once they realize you’re saving money with coupons they’re going to start clipping, too, and you can bet your booties they’re going to be clipping the same coupons you’re clipping – especially if it’s a really great deal.

Dumpster Diving

OK, it’s illegal… and it’s dangerous… and it’s just plain yucky! But it IS effective and you can sometimes find dozens of inserts in one fell swoop. Unfortunately, you can’t dictate which coupons people are going to throw away, so if you’re looking for a specific coupon… good luck.

On a serious note – Be careful! We recommend that you stick to the green & white dumpsters that are used for recycling paper only – you’re less likely to get cut or covered in goop. And never, never go dumpster diving alone – Always take a buddy!

Coupon Clipping Services

When you want a large quantity of a specific coupon, the safest most economical way to get them is to use a coupon clipping service. Yes, we’re kinda biased here, but look at the benefits:

  • 20 Sunday newspapers will cost at least $40, while 100 mac & cheese coupons will only cost you just $8.
  • You can get all the coupons you want from one source.
  • You don’t have to do any of the clipping.’
  • You don’t have to do any begging.
  • You don’t have to do any driving.
  • They’re delivered right to your door.
  • And best of all…
  • You don’t have to dive in any dumpsters!
