One quick comparison between The Coupon Clippers website and The Happy Couponer Marketplace and you’ll immediately see why you need to be careful if you’re ordering your coupons from ‘the other guy.’ Especially if you live in Puerto Rico.
What’s so special about Puerto Rico?
Back in May 2015 there was a big change in the P & G (Procter & Gamble) insert. Ninety percent or more of the coupons in that insert included this wording: Not valid in Puerto Rico. Prior to this May issue P & G coupons could be used anywhere, including Puerto Rico, at any store that accepted manufacturers’ coupons.
Manufacturers Including More and More Usage Limitations On Coupons
In the good ol’ days manufacturer coupons didn’t even have expiration dates. Thanks to those exreme couponing TV shows, though, a few bad apples have spoiled it for the whole bunch. Manufacturers are including more and more usage limitations on their coupons. Now it’s common to see:
- Limit 4 identical coupons per household, per day
- Limit 2 identical coupons in same transaction
- Limit 1 coupon per customer
- Excludes trial/travel size
- Not valid in Thrift stores
- Can not be combined with any other coupon or offer
- Do not double or triple
- Only good in the US
- Not valid in Puerto Rico
It’s important for couponers to understand these limitations before they head to the store, but it’s even more important that couponers know which limitations apply to which coupons before they even place their order. Sure, you can order a hundred of those $4-off BIC coupons but if you happen to live in Puerto Rico you’ve just wasted your money if they’re not valid in Puerto Rico.
The Happy Couponer Marketplace vs The Coupon Clippers
We did a super-quick comparison of The Happy Couponer Marketplace vs The Coupon Clippers. A comparison that was so quick and so easy you can test it yourself.
We typed the words “Puerto Rico” into the search bar on each site to see how many coupons we’d find that mentioned either ‘Valid in Puerto Rico’ or ‘Not valid in Puerto Rico.’ The results?
At this writing, The Happy Couponer Marketplace has 538 listings that include the information that the coupon is either valid or not valid in Puerto Rico. The Coupon Clippers show ZERO coupons that include this information. ZERO.
Where are the Limitations?
When you view a listing for coupons at The Happy Couponer Marketplace you’ll see all the limitations for that coupon listed in the product description so you can make an informed buying decision. View that same coupon at The Coupon Clippers and you won’t see the limitations until after you place that coupon in your shopping cart. By then, you’re more concerned about how much they’re charging you for shipping and administration fees so you probably won’t even look at the limitations.
But, let’s say you do take the time to read everything in your shopping cart. It sure would be nice if the folks at The Coupon Clippers would let you know when that coupon isn’t valid in Puerto Rico, but they don’t. Just look at any P & G coupon and see for yourself.
